WASHINGTON—St. Peter School (SPS) will host two Open Houses this fall for prospective families on Friday, November 4 and Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 9-10:30 a.m., at 422 3rd Street SE.
Families considering SPS for elementary or middle school will have the opportunity to learn more about the school’s teachings and academic offerings and meet some of the school’s current families, faculty and staff.
“As one of the very first Catholic schools in Washington, D.C., St. Peter School has a reputation for its strong community ties and academic excellence,” said St. Peter School Principal Karen Clay. “Perhaps most importantly, our students have shown incredible resilience over the last two years, and our teachers have adapted to every challenge. I believe our tradition of strong faith formation is a major contributing factor.”
“Under Principal Clay’s leadership, our teachers have maintained a high standard of academic excellence, and our students have continued to excel, throughout the pandemic,” said Pastor-Principal Advisory Board President Ray Bucheger. “Parents, students, faculty and staff all recognize what an incredible privilege it is to be part of the St. Peter School family and are dedicated to supporting one another as well as the surrounding community.”
The cornerstones of St. Peter School’s teachings include the following:
- Academic Excellence: In 2019, St. Peter School was honored as a National Blue Ribbon School, as one of 50 non-public schools in the country to be recognized as "Exemplary High Performing.”
- Community Service: St. Peter School follows the Seven Themes of Catholic Social Teaching through its Student Council and Student Families program.
- Faith Formation: St. Peter School students regularly celebrate Mass and come together for events to mark the special liturgical seasons of the Church.
The application deadline for the 2023-24 school year is Friday, January 13, 2023. Decision letters are mailed on Friday, February 17, 2023.
