Welcome, and thank you for your interest in St. Peter School!

Founded in 1868, St. Peter School is one of the very first Catholic elementary schools of Washington, D.C., with a proud tradition of faith formation, academic excellence, and strong community ties. Recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, we challenge our students with a rigorous academic program and teach our students how to be considerate, contributing members of society.

Our goal at St. Peter School is to meet individual student needs to allow each child to reach his or her maximum potential. Approximately 91 percent of our dedicated faculty possess an advanced degree or certificate, and we are constantly perfecting our craft through on-site professional development, conferences, workshops, and graduate coursework.

Based on standards set by The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, our basic curriculum includes reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. Students also participate in foreign language, art, music, physical education, social emotional learning, and several middle school electives, and advanced technology is integrated across the curriculum.

Our middle school shares a vision of high expectations and performance, and our graduates have set a tradition of acceptance to the high schools of their choice. Among others, these include, Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, Gonzaga College High School, Elizabeth Seton High School, DeMatha Catholic High School, The Academy of the Holy Cross, St. John’s College High School, and Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart.

The surrounding Capitol Hill neighborhood has much to offer. Our students benefit from three outdoor parks within two blocks of the school for outdoor activities; the Library of Congress, U.S. Capitol Building, and the Folger Shakespeare Theatre are within walking distance; and two nearby Metro stations allow for easy transportation to other parts of the city, including our national monuments, the Kennedy Center, and Smithsonian Museums.
