Cross Country

Congratulations to our 2022 Champions--8U Girls (1st Place) and 8U Boys (2nd Place)! Information about 2023 available next school year.

Goals: To have fun, to foster an accessible, healthy (running) habit early and to provide the support and team atmosphere for kids to be able to thrive.

Eligibility and Registration: The age cut-off is August 31 for purposes of determining a runner’s division. ADW asks runners to be 6 years old to compete, but coaches can request an exception in the event coaches and parents believe a runner is ready to compete.

Meets: Held on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. in Maryland. While the full schedule is not yet final, the first meet will be on September 11, 2022, and the championship meet will be on October 23, 2022. There will be an option for runners to submit virtual times each week if they prefer not to attend in-person races.

Practices: Runners are not required to participate in every practice but should attend at least once a week to help with team building, goal setting, speed and endurance. Practices will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5-6 p.m.—rain or shine! Practice will only be cancelled in the event of thunder/lightning. First practice will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

For more information, including practice location, contact parent coaches Sarah Rittling (Lyden) and Christine Sloan.
