Aftercare has been reinstated for SY 21 22.  Beforecare remains on hold.

Cost:  Full-Time Aftercare:  $400/month, billed directly through TADS in advance (on or around the 15th of the previous month).  Full-Time contracts run September-December;  January-June.  Drop-In rate is $30/child/day, and the Half-Day rate is $60/child/day.  Drop-Ins are also billed through TADS once/month.

Hours:  3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Hours for designated half days are 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Typical schedule:  Session starts with Aftercare students in their homerooms.  The Aftercare teacher takes attendance, and students eat snack until 3:45 p.m.  While older students in Grades 2 - 7 then start their homework, younger students play outside on the Lower Playground until 4:30 p.m. or longer, depending on the weather, with Aftercare staff and dedicated Aftercare playground equipment/toys/balls.  After homework time, older students can play on the Upper Playground.  After outdoor play, students return to classroms for homework, art, educational technology and other engaging activities.  (Note:  Classroom activities have been limited while students still practice social distancing.  Safe and engaging activities have been implemented, as the team strives to maintain best COVID practices.  More enrichment activities like flag football, Art Club and yoga will be added as safety allows.)

Staff:  St. Peter School Art teacher Trish Blomquist and PE teacher Kelley Allen co-direct the Aftercare Program.  There is also an excellent Aftercare teacher assigned to each grade.  Either Ms. Allen or Mrs. Blomquist is on site each day until closing to supervise.

Do outside staff follow school COVID guidelines?  Aftercare takes COVID very seriously.  We abide by DC Department of Health regulations/mandates, under the supervision of the principal, school nurse and school committees.  We practice hand washing, and masks are mandatory inside (as of late February, masks are no longer required for outdoor play).  Further mitigation will be adjustged as DCDOH permits.  All snack breaks are outside.  All of our employees are vetted and employed by St. Peter School.

Are students kept in cohorts for contract-tracing purposes?  Yes.

How many students in a typical Aftercare class?  There are approximately 10 students/class from PK - Grade 4.  Middle school classes are smaller.

Does Aftercare offer other enrichment activities?  Yes, for an additional fee.  We bring dance, soccer and the arts to your child.  Enrichment activities were on hold during COVID but returning on a limited basis as of February.  Ask the directors for more details.
