Humanities

Humanities are essential to a well-rounded Catholic education. Saint Peter School's vibrant programs in art, band, choir, and musical theater inspire creativity, build confidence, and cultivate a deep appreciation for beauty—reflecting the goodness of God’s creation.

Music

Saint Peter School students learn music fundamentals, which help with audio and visual perception, fine motor coordination, muscle memory, and mental dexterity. Additional offerings for students in Grades 4-8 to deepen their academic experience through learning music fundamentals and performance technique.

Extracurricular Offerings

Choir

In Choir, students in Grades 4-8 develop skills in performance, memorization, reading musical notation, as well as familiarity with choral repertoire. Choir members sing for school mass, perform in concerts, and go on choral specific field trips.

Band

Band offers an opportunity for students in Grades 4-8 to learn the fundamentals of music theory, including pitch, scale, rhythm, melody, and chords. Students may choose from seven instruments: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, or snare drum. Band meets weekly for practice and performs in a spring concert at Saint Peter’s Church.

Musical Theater

Each year, our school musical brings together students in Grades 2-8 to showcase their talents in acting and singing. With a focus on collaboration and storytelling, our productions foster confidence, stage presence, and a passion for the performing arts.

Art

Through hands-on exploration, our students develop artistic skills and an understanding of visual expression. From painting and drawing to exploring the many art museums that Washington, D.C. has to offer, our art program fosters creativity, problem-solving, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
