Tampa Catholic High School

Catholic Identity is central to everything we do at St. Peter School. One of the oldest continuously operating Catholic elementary schools in Washington, D.C., SPS operates under The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington and is supported by the local parishes of St. Peter's, St. Joseph's, St. Dominic, St. Patrick's, St. Francis de Sales, the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, and Epiphany Catholic Church.

Prayer, Worship, & Sacraments

At St. Peter School, Catholic faith and values become living, conscious, and active though instruction and participation in prayer, worship, and sacraments. Students experience the Catholic faith in a variety of ways, from regular, focused religious instruction to events marking the special liturgical seasons and sacraments of the Church. Students in all grades attend Mass every week, where the entire community—including students, teachers, administrators, and parents—worships together.

To the Greater Glory of God

At St. Peter School, students, faculty, and staff begin and end each day with a unique prayer Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (AMDG), or "to the greater glory of God," to remind us of our role as disciples of Christ:

“All I do and all I say, all my work and all my play, all I do and think this day will be for the greater glory of God."

Virtue of the Month

SPS students learn to care for and respect one another through the implementation of Disciple of Christ-Education in Virtue. A Christian curriculum based on Catholic virtues, positive character traits are instilled in students and focuses on one virtue each month. Click here to download the Monthly Virtue Prayers

Catholic Social Teaching

SPS students learn about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society by following the Seven Themes of Catholic Social Teaching. Through the Student Families program, students engage in activities that live out these themes in support of organizations across Capitol Hill and beyond.
